Explore the great outdoors by spending a night outside in this fun challenge for all ages. The Every Girl in a Tent challenge encourages you and your Girl Scout to practice outdoor stewardship, try new things, and build community. Why participate? Camping and outdoor activities can help youth build self-confidence and leadership skills.
"Every Girl in a Tent" Base Patch
Earn Your Patch
Earn an exclusive, glow-in-the-dark patch after your first outdoor
overnight stay in a non-permanent structure. You can earn add-on
patches for 5, 10, 15, and 20 nights outdoors in a tent. They don’t
have to be consecutive nights—they can be accumulated throughout your
time in Girl Scouts! For an extra challenge, you can earn the winter
camping add-on patch by sleeping outdoors between November to March,
or the under the stars add-on by sleeping in a hammock or on the
ground. After your trip, purchase your patch or add-on patches from
one of our Girl Scout shop locations.
Plan Your Trip
Ready to take on the challenge? Use these steps to help you get started:
Decide where and when you will camp. Remember, only non-permanent structures, such as tents, quinzhees, hammocks, and on-the-ground camping, count towards this patch.
Plan your activities. Hiking? Bird watching? Singing by a campfire? Board or card games? The possibilities are endless!
Leave No Trace – remember to leave your campsite as clean (or cleaner) as when you got there!
