Many of our supporters leave gifts to Girl Scouts River Valleys in their wills, or estate plans so they can leave a legacy that continue past their lifetime. A potential benefit of a bequest in a will, or living trust, is the ability to transfer assets to the Girl Scouts free of estate tax.

Make a Gift from Your Retirement Plan
Naming Girl Scouts River Valleys as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401k or other qualified plans may help eliminate your income and estate taxes, reduce your retirement assets, and possibly avoid probate fees. Plus, there is no cost to you to give now!
How it Works
Did you know that the full value of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or other qualified plans are subject to taxes at your death. Instead, consider naming Girl Scouts River Valleys as a beneficiary of all or a portion of your plan.
As a nonprofit organization, we are tax exempt and will receive the full amount of what you designate to River Valleys from your plan.
1. Name Girl Scouts River Valleys as a beneficiary of your plan. All this requires is updating your beneficiary designation form through your plan administrator. You can designate Girl Scouts River Valleys as the primary beneficiary for a percentage or specific amount. You can also identify River Valleys as the contingent beneficiary to receive the balance of your plan only if your primary beneficiary does not survive you.
2. After your lifetime, the residue of your plan passes directly to Girl Scouts River Valleys tax-free and to any other named heirs.
