Building life skills and lasting relationships among older Girl Scouts
Grades 8-12: Join us for our older Girl Scout exclusive, six-part leadership development program, gsLead! In gsLead, Girl Scouts will identify strengths, develop future goals, hear from women leaders in a variety of fields, and grow in a supportive community of other Girl Scouts. Sessions may be a mix of virtual and in-person held at various locations for hands-on activities.
This program is also open to 8 –12th graders who are not yet members, so you can invite your friends to join too, whether they are already Girl Scouts or not. Girl Scouts who have participated in gsLead previously are welcome to join and participate again—New activities and topics are planned for this year.
Registration for the 2024-2025 program is open August 5 through October 24.
2024-2025 Program Overview and Dates
Session 1: Overnight at Camp Lakamaga - Nov 2-3 (4:00 pm to 4:00 pm)
At our first meeting of gsLead, we will focus on getting to know each other, team-building, and making goals for the year. You'll have a chance to share what you want to get out of gsLead this year, suggest professions we should invite to our career panel in December, and have fun at camp!
Session 2: Career Panel - Dec 1
Hear from a panel of women who work in a variety of fields and explore potential career paths. What is their job like on an average day? What's the best and worst part of their job? What would they recommend high schoolers do if they are interested in the field? You'll get a chance to ask all these questions and more.
Session 3: Inclusive Leadership - Jan 5
Leaders communicate and work together with many different people to achieve their goals. At this session, we will explore topics like communicating across differences, how our own identities affect our leadership, and how to bring people together to work for a common goal.
Session 4: Using Your Voice - Feb 2
Flex your creativity and communication skills as we work with a special guest to practice using your voice to share your story and take on leadership roles.
Session 5: Planning Your Future - Mar 2
It's time to start thinking about what you want your future to look like! We will visit a local college to take a tour, talk about deciding what to do after high school, and consider what skills you can build now to set you up for future success, whatever that means to you.
Session 6: Courage, Confidence, and Character - Apr 6
For our last session, we will practice courage, confidence, and character by going on an adventure together!
