MANKATO, MN – This year, 35 local Silver and Gold Award Girl Scouts were honored at the 2024 Highest Awards ceremony in Mankato, recognizing their nearly 2,100 collective hours of community service work to advance projects ranging from childhood literacy to women’s health and safety to environmental education and action.
Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards—collectively known as Highest Awards—are the highest honors Girl Scouts can earn, with each award giving Girl Scouts the chance to make their communities and the world a better place while learning essential leadership skills along the way.
“The Highest Awards celebration goes beyond the awards themselves,” said Girl Scouts River Valleys’ CEO, Marisa C. Williams. “It's a testament to these Girl Scouts’ dedication to embracing the journey of growth and self-discovery, making the world around them a better place as they go.”
Across the Girl Scouts River Valleys council, which includes southern Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and one county in Iowa, 145 Girl Scouts received their Silver and Gold Awards this year—plus another 376 who have completed group or troop projects to earn their Bronze Awards.
