What Is a Cookie Rally?
A Cookie Rally is a pre-season event hosted by community or area to kick off the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Along with generating excitement about the upcoming sale, a Cookie Rally helps prepare new and returning Girl Scouts and their families by teaching them how to engage their community, work together, and gain information on recognition items, promotion strategies, and seller resources. Think of it as a pep rally, practice run, training camp, and celebration all-in-one!
Girl Scouts River Valleys Cookie Rally
Girl Scouts River Valleys will be offering a council-sponsored Cookie Rally as an option for Girl Scouts. We understand some communities or areas may wish to hold their own rally. Communities or areas may choose to host a virtual rally or other creative option (how about a drive-thru rally?). Check out the updated Rally Guide for virtual rally ideas.
Who Attends a Cookie Rally?
Cookie Rallies aren’t just for the Girl Scouts! Troop volunteers and parents are encouraged to attend so they can show support, ask questions, and understand what to expect before, during, and after the Cookie Program.
What Happens at a Cookie Rally?
A Cookie Rally highlights and promotes the Girl Scout Cookie Program. A typical rally has Girl Scouts engaging in different activities designed to help them learn how to play an active and age appropriate role in selling cookies (Or, as we like to call it, managing their Cookie business!)
When are Cookie Rallies Held?
We recommend hosting a Cookie Rally any time between January and two weeks prior to the start of sale.
How do I Prepare?
Start by following the steps in the Cookie Rally Guide (PDF). Team with other community or area volunteers to brainstorm ideas that would be fun and engaging for Girl Scouts of all ages. Establish a budget, pick a date and location, and promote your Cookie Rally to troop leaders and parents.
Are Cookie Rallies Necessary?
A long time passes between cookie seasons (some Girl Scout Cookie fans would say too long!) and a lot happens during that time: New individual and troop goals are set, new recognition items are created, new Girl Scouts join troops, processes improved, and more. A Cookie Rally is a great opportunity to both re-engage with fellow volunteers and Girl Scouts and get everyone on the same page about all of the improvements for the upcoming season.
