Adults Only: Get ready for a playful, energizing day of building outdoor confidence and gathering real skills you can bring straight back to your troop.
Adult Member Price $10
Location: Camp Lakamaga
Registration Closes Apr 19
Details: Fire, Food & Fun is a hands-on skills workshop designed just for Girl Scout adult volunteers who want to feel capable, creative, and prepared on every outdoor adventure.
We'll dive into safe fire-building methods, try different outdoor cooking styles, practice stove basics, and explore simple, troop-friendly activities that make time outside both fun and successful. You'll also get hands-on time with essential outdoor skills-learning useful knots, safe knife handling, and how to set up and take down tents with confidence.
These practical techniques work everywhere-from a quick badge day to a full weekend at camp.
Participants should dress for the outdoors and the weather, and bring something for lunch that can be cooked over a fire-on a stick, wrapped in foil, or in a pie iron. We'll provide the heat, the guidance, and the fun.
Optional Overnight Stay: Wrap up the day with a relaxed evening at camp. Attendees may stay overnight in a tent (bring your own!) or together in a cabin. We'll also send out an ingredient sign-up list so we can create a shared feast by firelight for dinner-everyone contributes something simple, and we cook it together outdoors.
If the weather is clear, we'll head to the sports field after dark for even more outdoor skills: learning constellations, navigating the night sky, and trying out a telescope.
Come spend a day learning with friendly volunteers, gaining outdoor know-how, and building confidence you can use on every adventure. Learn it here... lead it anywhere!
