Grades K-1: Calling all Daisies: Come and earn your Democracy badge! You'll meet the "candidates" in an imaginary mayoral election, participate in a fun-filled mock election and make campaign posters for your candidate of choice, and travel along with the elected "mayor" as they go on to run for governor, and eventually, president. As your candidate journeys through city, state, and national government, we'll use creative, hands-on activities to learn which types of laws are made at each level, who makes them, and how you can use your voice in government. You might even get to meet a real-life (not imaginary) elected official and learn what their job is like!
This event is great for Daisies who are planning to attend Day at the Capitol and want to learn more about government before visiting the Capitol. Even if you don't plan to attend DATC, you still won't want to miss this interactive event!
Included: Democracy for Daisies badge, snack
Adult/Youth Ratio:Adult chaperones are required to register and attend with youth members. Please limit registration and attendance to 1 adult for up to 5 youth.
Payment details: This event has a minimum deposit. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Full payment is due by registration close date.
