Have a three-night troop adventure at camp!! Camp Northwoods near Ashland, WI provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy a long weekend with troopmates and experience fun staff- and troop-led activities. Campers will cook their own meals over a campfire and enjoy the outdoors while bonding over their troops favorite activities.  Troop Exploration at Camp Northwoods is for Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador troops (current grades 3-12).

One troop leader will register for the entire group by reserving a housing unit, rather than registering each individual camper. Morning Star cabins can fit up to 8 people total, including adults.

Troops can bring more adults than required by their program grade level ratio if desired. As long as Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoint guidelines and ratios are met for the troops age level, groups may bring any youth-to-adult-ratio desired. All adults must be registered, and background checked members.

Activities: During their time at camp, Girl Scouts will enjoy the following staff-led activities:

  • Games and introductions on the first night
  • Open swim time during each full day at camp
  • Choice of three of the following staff-led activities: archery, slingshots, low ropes/teambuilding games, geocaching, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding (each activity will take approximately 75 minutes)
  • A campfire with smores on the last night
  • An all-camp activity with other troops on the last morning

Troops will also have approximately 10 hours of downtime for troop-led activities. Campers can hike or bike around camp, play a game in the playfield, bring something to tie-dye, or work on a project from home. These activities are planned and facilitated by the troop.

Housing: Morning Star cabins have four bunk beds and sleep eight people total. They have electricity and ceiling fans but no running water, air conditioning, or kitchen. Cooking inside Morning Star cabins is not permitted. Pit toilets (latrines) and sinks are available nearby, and a central shower house is a 10-minute walk away.  Please note there should be at least 2 adults in a cabin that houses Girl Scouts.

Meals:

  • Troops staying in Morning Star cabins are responsible for bringing and preparing their own breakfast, dinner, and snacks for their time at camp. Camp staff will provide to-go lunches (sandwiches, fruit, veggies, chips) each day. There will be space available to store your food items safely in the kitchen pantry, walk-in cooler, and walk-in freezer (a 10-minute walk away).
  • Fire pits with cooking grates as well as a covered picnic shelter are available near the cabins and around camp.
  • Troops may check out outdoor cooking equipment from camp including pots, pans, cast iron Dutch ovens, pie irons, utensils, dishes, and matches/lighters. Firewood is provided near the fire pits. Troops are responsible for cleaning any borrowed dishes and equipment and returning them to the pack out area below Davidson troop house.

Registration: Prior to arrival, group leaders will receive an email requesting individual registration for all participants, as well as the groups selection of their three staff-led activities.
