Grades 6-12: Have you ever wondered what it might be like to head off into the woods for a weekend with just what you carry in your backpack? Spend 2 nights on the trails at Camp Elk River, learning the ins and outs of backpacking! We'll start by packing our backpacks together and learning about what it takes to plan a backpacking trip, then head out to practice our hiking, outdoor cooking, and camping skills. You'll get a chance to explore some new trails among the fall leaves, sing songs around a campfire, and build the skills you would need to go backpacking with your troop or family. Cadettes will earn the Primitive Camper badge, Seniors will earn the Trail Adventure badge, and Ambassadors will earn the Survival Camper badge.

You'll need to bring your own clothing, shoes, and toiletry items, but all camping gear including sleeping bags, backpacks, tents, cooking equipment, and food will be provided by camp. Registered participants will receive a more detailed packing list a few weeks before the event and have a chance to let us know what items they would like to borrow.

Included: meals (dinner Friday through lunch Sunday), snacks, badge

Adult/Youth Ratio: Youth only event, no adults are required to attend.
