Women make up just nine percent of construction workers in the U.S., despite the fact that these competitive jobs are some of the few in the country where there is no gender pay-gap. The U.S. is also facing a shortage of qualified trades professionals. This need has led Girl Scouts River Valleys to create a unique all-girl, year-round trades program—Power Girls. The Power Girls program gives girls a chance to practice trades skills like construction, learn from female mentors, and see themselves in trades careers.
Since 2016, Girls Scouts River Valleys has increased our capacity to provide immersive trades experiences for girls with Power Girls. Power Girls has grown from a day program that serves 44 girls into a six-day resident camp and year-round programming that reaches more girls than ever before.

We invite you to support Power Girls and make this one-of-a-kind, year-round trades program and camp possible for girls. Together, we can help girls learn to lead with confidence, develop a broader sense of their capacities and capabilities, expand their math and science skills through concrete applications, and push past perceived limitations. Together, we can build strong girls ready for success.
