Grades 6-12: Experience the excitement and challenge of winter camping at Camp Northwoods! We'll learn about how to stay warm and safe in the cold, how the Leave No Trace principles apply during winter, and how camping in the winter looks different from camping in the summer. Cook over the fire, look for signs of the animals that call Northwoods home year-round, and make new friends while telling stories around the campfire. If there's enough snow, we will build qunizhees (shelters made of snow) and go for a snowshoe hike!
Participants will spend the first night sleeping inside in a heated troop house. Weather permitting, the second night will be spent in a quinzhee or tarp shelter. Meals will be cooked outside over a fire and everyone should be prepared to spend the majority of the weekend outdoors. A few weeks before the event, registered participants will receive a packing list and a form to fill out if they need to borrow any camping gear such as sleeping bags, sleeping pads, or flashlights. Camp will provide all cooking supplies, food, and group gear, while participants will need to bring warm clothing for layering and snow boots.

Included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday; breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Cadettes will earn the Primitive Camper Badge, Seniors will earn the Adventure Camper Badge, and Ambassadors will earn the Survival Camper Badge.

Adult/Youth Ratio: Only 1 adult is required to register and attend with every 10 youth members. More may register as needed by the troop.  Adults who stay overnight need to be a member with a background check.
