Grades 8-12: Join us for the third year of our older Girl Scout exclusive, 6-part leadership development program, gsLead! In gsLead, Girl Scouts will identify strengths, develop future goals, hear from women leaders in a variety of fields, and grow in a supportive community of other Girl Scouts. Sessions are held at various locations.
This program is also open to 8 12th graders who are not yet members, so you can invite your friends to join too, whether they are already Girl Scouts or not. Girl Scouts who participated in gsLead last year are welcome to join and participate again we're planning new activities and topics for this year!
Participants who attend at least 4 of the 6 sessions will receive a patch and certificate at the closing celebration.
Session 1: Overnight Connection: Join the 2023-2024
gsLead cohort in an overnight at Camp Elk River. Youll connect with
other cohort members through group games and relaxation time. A
special guest will join us to teach us about foraging & outdoor
cooking, and lead us in some team-building activities. Youll leave
this session feeling refreshed, connected, and ready for your gsLead
experience!

Session 2: Art as Identity & Culture: Well meet
with local artist Julia Boada, who will teach basic Anishinaabe
beading. Julie will share how art is tied to her culture, family, and
selfand we are stronger leaders when we know ourselves and can express
ourselves! Youll get to take your art home and reflect on your own
culture and ways you express yourself.

Session 3: Using Your Voice: Join Paulette Bonneur
for an interactive leadership workshop.

Session 4: Courage & Confidence: We are more
effective leaders when others trust usand others are more likely to
trust us when we trust ourselves. Practice courage, confidence, and
trust with an afternoon of rock climbing and other team-building
activities!

Session 5: Mental Wellness & Individual Empowerment
Equine Therapy: In this session, we will visit Acres for
Life Equine Therapy in Forest Lake. Well learn about how they use
horses to support people in improving their mental health.

Session 6: Building Your Future (and closing
celebration): We will wrap up this year's gsLead cohort with
a final learning opportunity, and then a small celebration to reflect
on all that we've been through together on this leadership
journey!
