Family Think Like a Citizen Scientist Day at Camp Lakamaga
Registration Closes: 08/13/20 at 11 p.m. CST
Grades K-5: Citizen Science is the idea that anyone, anywhere can help collect data and participate in scientific research! In this self-guided day, your whole family will explore beautiful Camp Lakamaga and choose from a variety of projects to refine your Citizen Science skills. You’ll make observations, collect important data, and contribute to research that hundreds of Girl Scouts have contributed to! You’ll walk away feeling inspired to Take Action in your community.
Included: Think like a Citizen Scientist Award, Additional Take Home Activities and a Take Action Guide
Girl/Adult Ratio: This is a Family program. While only your Girl Scout needs to register for this event, we require an adult to accompany her and welcome up to 6 family members to attend as well (per state ordinances). When reserving your check-in time, please list all members of your household who will be attending.
COVID 19 Health Guidelines:
- Staggered start time: Registered participants will receive an email one week prior to the event with a link to reserve a check-in time. Groups will be let in according to their reserved time, and once they have been checked-in, the self-guided can be expected to take 2-2.5 hours.
- Social distancing: Camp will be a one-way walking path with several self-guided activities along the way! Other than participants in your household, please stay 6 feet apart from participants and staff while on property.
- Face masks: All staff and participants will be required to wear face coverings/masks during this event. Please keep your mask on (covering the mouth and nose) for the duration of your visit.
- Participants who feel sick, are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 should not attend the event. We will honor an exception to our cancellation policy and issue refunds in these cases.
Policies: Please review our event and cancellation policies.
