Unstoppable Girl Scouts Nominated for a BOLD Award

2022 BOLD Awards

Girl Scouts River Valleys has been nominated for a BOLD Award as part of the Tenth Annual BOLD Awards presented by the Minnesota Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.

Girl Scouts River Valleys was nominated in the nonprofit category for the innovative business strategies that drove the 2021 Cookie Program. Over 11,000 Girl Scouts in 49 counties sold 3,380,00 packages of cookies while participating in the largest entrepreneurial program for girls in the world. They learned business and financial skills while earning money to fund their Girl Scouting goals – and did it all during a global pandemic.

With safety as a priority, Girl Scouts customized their sale strategies participating at booths, in-person, and with online sales, which increased 500% with web-based sites, council subsidized credit card fees and shipping, and creative rewards and contest that inspired cookier-sellers. Girl Scouts also attributes success to expert inventory management and the hundreds of business partnerships that support the program including Cub and Walmart.

Girl Scouts River Valleys is the twelfth largest Girl Scout council but finished the season as the number one cookie program in the country, an accomplishment that powers amazing adventures and life-changing opportunities year-round—from community projects to summer camp to charitable donations.

At a Nominee Reception on January 6, Girl Scouts River Valleys CEO Tish Bolger, Director of Product Program Tammy Freese, and Product Program Lead Becca Robinson represented Girl Scouts and had the opportunity to meet the award judges and business leaders from across Minnesota.

Said Bolger, “It was exciting to share our Cookie Program accomplishments with our peers. We’re so proud of the creativity, grit, and smart business decisions our awesome Girl Scouts demonstrated throughout the challenge the 2021 season. They learned how to set goals, pivot, and understand their customers, developing confidence in themselves along the way.”

Corporate leaders and teams representing the nominees from a group of over 100 stellar organizations will attend the awards ceremony on February 22, 2022. Winners will be announced for six categories including nonprofits. Girl Scouts River Valleys is honored to be a part of the BOLD Awards.
