This fall we launched Girls in Gear, a brand-new mountain bike program. Open to girls ages 9-14, Girls in Gear teaches mountain biking basic skills and allows them to gain confidence and endurance in a girl-only environment.
Girls in Gear is one of the first nationwide to offer an exclusive mountain bike experience at a Girl Scout camp. Built with input from industry leaders and outfitted with high-end Salsa-brand bikes, the program offers a premier experience for beginner and early intermediate riders.
Girls will enjoy gaining confidence while exploring our mountain bike skills park and our 2.1-mile trail on a beautiful, rolling wooded prairie near Zimmerman, Minnesota.
More programs for ages 7-18 are coming next year, including one-day and multi-day camps. All programs are developed and led by BICP-certified staff.
For more than 100 years, Girl Scouts provides opportunities for girls to grow their confidence, leadership, and resilience in the outdoors. A recent Girl Scouts of the USA study, “Girl Scouts Soar in the Outdoors”, furthers this history. It is no surprise taking part in in outdoor activities in Girl Scouts has a meaningful and lasting impact.
We're thrilled to offer this unique program that allows girls to build resilience, problem-solve, and conquer fears while learning a lifelong sport in the outdoors.
Generous support from local in-kind sponsors, Quality Bike Products, Salsa Bikes, and Tonka Cycle & Ski, helped make the program possible.
