As a Girl Scout supporter, you know Girl Scouts has over 100 years of experience giving girls what they need to become leaders in their community today and long into the future—and we’re committed to bringing this program to as many girls as possible. Girl Scouts River Valleys currently has a bill in the Minnesota Legislature that will help us do just that! Officially known as HF 292 in the House and SF 400 in the Senate, but we call it the Girl Scout Bill!
This legislation seeks state funding for the Girl Scouts ConnectZ program and other outreach programs at our sister councils in Minnesota. Our program, ConnectZ, is a program that brings free, high-quality leadership programming to over 3,000 girls in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota. The bill appropriates $1.4 million a year, for two years from the General Fund to the Department of Education for a grant toward these outreach programs. 75% of Girl Scouts in the ConnectZ program have average or better grades in school and 80% believe girls like them can make important contributions to the world. ConnectZ provides the information, support, and experiences girls need to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Most importantly, ask your legislator to support The Girl Scout Bill!
The Girl Scout Bill needs support from legislators to move forward, and your legislator needs to hear that you want them to support it! You can reach them by email, phone, or schedule an in-person meeting. Girls can advocate to ensure all girls have access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through the ConnectZ program and other outreach programs throughout the state.
