All About the Girl Scout Bill

All About the Girl Scout Bill

At Girl Scouts, we focus on girls, building them to be (s)heros of tomorrow, and equipping them with resources to be active leaders in their communities. That’s why it’s important now—more than ever—to help girls empower themselves to be a positive force for change in the world and unleash their inner confidence to speak up on issues that matter most to them!

Did you know Girl Scouts River Valleys currently has a bill in the Minnesota Legislature? It's officially known as HF 1171 in the House, and SF 859 in the Senate, but we like to call it The Girl Scout Bill!

As a Girl Scout supporter, you know Girl Scouts has over 100 years of experience in helping girls become leaders in their community and that we’re committed to bringing this program to as many girls as possible. Passing this bill would help us do just that.

This legislation seeks state funding for the Girl Scouts ConnectZ program, a program that brings high-quality leadership programming to over 2,700 girls in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota. The bill appropriates $1.4 million from the General Fund to the Department of Education for a grant toward the Girl Scouts ConnectZ program. 66% of Girl Scouts in the ConnectZ program will be the first in their family to attend college. Girl Scouts ConnectZ provides the information, support, and experiences girls need to thrive.
