Girls and STEM? The Possibilities Are Endless!

Girl Scout working on STEM project

Imagine her taking on some of the biggest challenges and problems our world faces—and helping solve them. Perhaps she’d like to build a robot, create an app, design a car, protect the world’s wildlife, send a spacecraft to a far galaxy, cure a disease…the possibilities are endless!

At Girl Scouts River Valleys, we aim to build girls’ interest, skills, and confidence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), so that they are equipped to be the future leaders in their field of choice. We provide life-changing STEM experiences to all girls and aim to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Read more about how Girl Scouts River Valleys is engaging and challenging girls to take the lead in STEM, in Hannah Gilbert’s most recent article – A Surefire Way to Engage Girls In STEM – on Machine Design Magazine. Hannah is the STEM coordinator at Girl Scouts River Valleys.

“My passion, and the vision of STEM at Girl Scouts River Valleys, is that every girl can transform her “maybe” into an “I got this!” says Hannah. “Our engagement with girls in STEM will impact their perceptions of the field and of themselves for the rest of their lives.”
