First Aid + CPR
For many troop activities, Girl Scouts recommends that at least one adult volunteer be first aid/CPR-certified. River Valleys encourages you to seek out opportunities to attend First Aid and CPR classes on your own time and through your community. First Aid and CPR classes are often offered by your school district’s community education department, local fire departments, hospitals and clinics, youth sports organizations and your local Red Cross branch.
Many healthcare providers who may already be part of your troop’s friends and family network are qualified first aiders for troop activities. See Volunteer Essentials: Safety-Wise for a list of qualified professionals. The Safety Activity Checkpoints also outline which first-aider needs to be present at different activities.
