Trainings on this page helps new leaders learn about Girl Scouting and working with girls.
Leadership Essentials (LE)
Learn how to effectively deliver Girl Scouting and use journey books. This session is available as a classroom sesssion, online and as a self-study.
All troop leaders and adults working with girls must attend Leadership Essentials within four months of appointment.
Ways to Complete:
1. Scheduled facilitated session
2. Download and save the River Valleys' Add-On (part 1) and access Leadership Essentials Online (part 2) (password: discover, contraseña de acceso: descubrir)
- Part One: Complete the additional River Valleys Add-On, a writable PDF. Submit to training@girlscoutsrv.org.
- Note: If you have problems with River Valleys Leadership Essentials Add-On, first make sure you download the latest Adobe Reader version and web browser. Questions? Contact training@girlscoutsrv.org.
- Part Two: Go to the Leadership Essentials Online training session (scroll to the bottom of the screen to find Leadership Essentials Online).
- Complete all contact information in the Learning Log
- Choose "Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys" council
- Complete question 1
- Click "Return to Leadership Essentials" at the bottom of the Learning Log
- When asked to complete your second Learning Log, go to the same Learning Log and complete questions 2A, etc. (There is only one Learning Log with multiple questions. Each question is completed after a section of the slides have been viewed.)
- Click submit only after you have completed all the questions
- There will be a screen confirming your submission
Extra! Extra! for Girl Scout Leaders
Extra! Extra! enrichment sessions focus on developmental characteristics, behavior and conflict management, girl-led planning, Girl Scout traditions and award information. All grade-level sessions will be offered throughout the year.
Take Action workshops
Take Action Basics: Light Their Fire
Learn how to help girls make a difference in their communities by planning and doing sustainable, measurable community service projects. Take Action Basics is held at various times throughout the year.
Take Action Highest Awards: Fuel Their Flame
Get information you need to support girls working on the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. The session is offered to adults accompanying girls to a River Valleys award workshop.
