Girl Scouts of the USA has impacted the lives of more than 50 million women since its inception in 1912. Many women who are leaders in their fields credit Girl Scouting with helping them build the set of skills that paved their road to success. This includes a number of local women of note and countless other women of accomplishment throughout the nation.

During the year we will keep you abreast of upcoming events and share new girl programs as well as opportunities to volunteer.
More than 150 Girl Scouts reconnected at ‘Come Back to Camp’ event
More than 150 Girl Scouts alumnae reconnected last weekend as they met at the “Come Back to Camp” event at Camp Lakamaga in Marine on St. Croix during the annual event allows Girl Scout alumnae to relive some of their favorite Girl Scout camp memories.
Each girl who attended received a Groovy Girl doll, designed a memory page, played some favorite camp games, and went canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. Activity stations, including stations where Girl Scouts alumnae and their guests could make SWAPS and sit-upons, were busy throughout the event, which was held from 1 p.m. to dusk at the camp. Arts and crafts activities, archery, and camp tours were some of the additional highlights of the day.
“I really like going to Girl Scout camp. It’s fun,” said Girl Scout Brownie Evelyn, 7, of Rivers Falls. “The best part is learning how to make paths in the woods and sometimes you will see some creatures there.” Evelyn took her parents J.P. and Julie, as well as her 5-year-old sisters, back to camp over the weekend to let them experience some of the fun she has there.
One group of Girl Scout Brownies set their sights on the archery range. The group, Troop 50691 of Prescott, Wis., was joined by other Girl Scout Brownies from Illinois. The visiting Girl Scouts were cousins of Prescott troop members who had also attended Girl Scout day camp in Illinois this summer. “It was a great camp swap,” said Tracy Banitt, a parent chaperone for the group. “Girl Scouts is a family tradition and it’s great that they can share these experiences together,” he said.
Girl Scouts alumnae, family, and friends enjoyed the beautiful weather during the day-long event, which gave the alumnae a chance to share with their families and friends the adventures they experienced in Girl Scout camp. As the sun began to set, Girl Scouts and their families gathered on the grassy Sports Field to sing favorite Girl Scout camp songs and roast marshmallows for S’mores.
