PROGRAM GRADE LEVEL TRAINING
LEADERSHIP ESSENTIALS – 3 HOURS
Returning leaders will value learning about GSUSA’s new model for program delivery – the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) and Journey books! GSLE focuses on the core of the traditional Girl Scout experience, developing leadership in girls. Effectively facilitate GSLE through both the Journey books and existing grade level materials . Explore the leadership processes of girl-led, learn by doing, and cooperative learning. Share ideas about experience progression, generating discussions with girls and earning awards to create the Journey experience with girls. This 3 hour session serves as a replacement for Basic Leadership and Age Level training. Bring both your girl and adult Journey book set.
OUTDOOR SKILLS/BEYOND THE TROOP TRAINING
ADVENTURE COURSE – 3 HOURS
Challenge yourself mentally and physically as you learn communication, trust, respect, and teamwork to overcome obstacles on the adventure course. Learn safety considerations, team building, and group feedback skills to help girls and adults navigate over such obstacles as the “nitro crossing,” “spider web,” and “whale watch.” A course manual is provided. Please wear long pants, tie back hair, and bring something to drink. This class will be held weather permitting.
DINING HALL OR KITCHEN ORIENTATION – 1 HOUR
Many camps have dining halls with fully equipped commercial kitchens. An orientation is required before reserving these facilities to ensure that the equipment is used appropriately and safely. Enjoy a tour and instruction on how to use the commercial equipment.
Appropriate participants: All leaders, encampment coordinators, and service unit volunteers who plan to use the dining hall kitchens.
Bring: A notebook and pen.
GIRLS COOK-IN - 1.5 HOURS
More than recipes, this course helps you lead your troop through the process of preparing food with your girls at a meeting or on a trip. Gain tips and techniques on how to teach girls the steps of planning, budgeting, brainstorming, following safety measures, and making healthy food choices. Develop strategies for grocery shopping and for effective group management for food preparation with the troop. All that and fun recipes, too! This training is not needed if you have completed Basic Outdoor Skills or Outdoor B Training.
GIRLS COOK-OUT - 3.5 HOURS
Is your troop ready to try some outdoor cooking? Build on the skills you learned in “Girls Cook-In” to prepare you to lead your girls in cooking food in the outdoors. Review Leave No Trace principles, outdoor sanitation methods per Safety-Wise, basic knots, and jack-knife safety. Learn fire-building methods as well as charcoal and camp stove cooking. Enjoy the hands-on experience cooking a meal using different fuel sources and equipment, such as a one pot, a box oven, and pie irons. This training is not needed if you have completed Basic Outdoor Skills (BOS) or Outdoor B Training.
GIRLS FIELD TRIPS AND TOURS - 1.5 HOURS
Learn how to help girls plan their field trips and tours, and create positive behavior expectations. Understand activity progression to match the age and skills of the girls and to practice inclusiveness. Know the safety requirements for and emergency procedures when traveling outside of your regularly scheduled meetings. This course is required to you take your troop on any daytime outings outside of the regular meeting place. Girls Field Trips and Tours is the basic keystone training to other Beyond the Troop courses.
GIRLS SLEEP-IN - 2 HOURS
Learn to walk your troop through the process of planning, preparing for and going on an overnight adventure of up to two nights and three days, sleeping indoors. Understand the planning process and how to utilize Girl Planning in preparing for an overnight. Topics covered include girl readiness, progression, and group living skills. Become familiar with River Valleys properties and council policies, Safety-Wise principles, Leave No Trace principles, and how to incorporate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience into the activity. This includes safety guidelines for fireplace fires. This training is not needed if you have completed Troop House or Outdoor Training.
GIRLS TRAVEL— U.S. - 3 HOURS
Excited to plan a regional or national trip lasting three or more nights? Be prepared to lead your girls through the process of planning, budgeting, and reviewing safety requirements and transportation needs for your trip. Learn how to help girls gauge their readiness for a planned trip. Become familiar with River Valleys’ policies and procedures for extended trips. This training is not needed if you have completed Extended Trip Training.
SAFETY TRAINING (CPR/AED AND FIRST AID)
CANOE SAFETY CERTIFICATION: MOVING WATER– 6 HOURS
After certification for lakes and flat water canoeing, you may take the Moving Water module for certification to take girls paddling on rivers with Class I and Class II rapids. Training covers river safety and hazards, supervision of paddlers on moving water, and moving water rescues. Certification is good for three years.
Prerequisite: To qualify for this class, you must have taken the Canoe Safety Certification class during the same summer (or at the 2007 Lakamaga Conference).
Appropriate participants: Adults who have had Canoe Safety Certification within the last year.
Bring: Red Cross Small Craft Safety book and current certification card. Your favorite paddle and an adult-sized life jacket if you have one. There are a limited number of adult-sized life jackets.
This class meets in Grantsburg, WI on Sunday morning. Participants must provide their own transportation. This class may be cancelled due to low water levels on the St. Croix River. Directions to the training site will be included in your confirmation letter.
CANOE SAFETY CERTIFICATION RENEWAL – 3.5 HOURS
If you are currently certified and are renewing your certification, you may take the class in challenge format and attend only the Saturday afternoon part of the class. You will not need to do the pretest but may choose to take a skills review session. If so, you must register for date options for the skills review sessions separately (see dates above).
Appropriate participants: Adults holding a current Canoe Safety Certification card to renew.
Bring: Red Cross Small Craft Safety book and current certification card. Your favorite paddle and an adult-sized life jacket if you have one. There are a limited number of adult-sized life jackets.
CANOE SAFETY CERTIFICATION – 7.5 HOURS
Canoe Safety Certification is the current Safety-Wise requirement for a canoe trip leader. Learn the skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and respond to canoe emergencies, and gain the knowledge to assist a troop/ group in planning and implementing a canoe outing. It is a safety and rescue course, not a canoeing skills class. Participants must be experienced canoeists who are prepared to pass a prerequisite test. Consider taking the Canoe Fundamentals or the Canoeing Skills class prior to this class for skill basics. This certification covers flat water canoeing and is good for a three-year period. Moving water certification requires an additional module. Prerequisite: • Float or tread water for 1 minute without a life jacket. • Swim any stroke for 25 yards without a life jacket. • Swim any stroke for 25 yards while wearing a life jacket. • Safely launch and control a canoe using the proper strokes while paddling forward and backward, turning, stopping and holding position. Paddling will be done solo, either alone in the canoe or with a non-paddling partner to help balance the canoe. When paddling forward and backward steering strokes, such as J-strokes or sweep strokes, must be used to maintain a straight line course without switching sides or ruddering.Appropriate participants: All

CPR/AED-ADULT– 4.5 HOURS
CPR/AED-Adult teaches you how to care for adults experiencing breathing and cardiac emergencies, including performing CPR and using an AED (automated external defibrillator). This American Red Cross certification is for volunteers who work with girls aged nine and older. CPR/AED-Adult should be taken prior to First Aid. The American Red Cross requires re-certification every year for CPR. In addition to the materials provided for use during the course, skill cards, books, and breathing barriers will be available for purchase during class.
Appropriate participants: Adults working with girls aged nine or older.
CPR/FIRST AID CHALLENGE – 2 HOURS
American Red Cross certification will be earned by those who successfully meet the (CPR/AED, Child CPR, and First Aid) challenge. Instructors will administer written and skills tests. No classroom instruction will be delivered. It is recommended that you take these classes in their entirety a few times prior to the challenge. This challenge will take a portion of the two-hour session time; you will be asked to sign up for a time slot when you arrive at the conference.

FIRST AID – 4 HOURS
First Aid helps you recognize and deal confidently and effectively with emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses. You will learn and practice bandaging and splinting. American Red Cross First Aid Certification is good for 3 years.

SKILLS REVIEW FOR CPR/FA CHALLENGE – 1 HOUR
For those planning to take the CPR/First Aid Training Challenge on Sunday morning, this session will review skills and concepts. Instructors will not be administering the challenge at this time.

WHEN HELP IS DELAYED: DAY CAMP AND ENCAMPMENTS – 3 HOURS
When Help Is Delayed covers situations when advanced medical services are more than 30 minutes away. Emphasis is placed on information first aiders should gather in a help-delayed situation, determining the best method of getting help to the victim or the victim to help, keeping the victim protected, and general emergency preparedness. Girl Scout-specific content will focus on emergency preparedness in day camp and encampment situations. This is a classroom-based course on emergency-preparedness planning rather than skills practice.
Prerequisite: Participants MUST present current CPR and First Aid certificates (or an exemption) at the time of the class. When Help Is Delayed assumes competence in basic CPR and First Aid skills.
Appropriate participants: Service unit day camp and encampment directors, first aiders.
SERVICE TEAM POSITION TRAINING
ADULT RECOGNITIONS
Recognizing the work of volunteers is key to retaining volunteers and maintaining excellence in program delivery. Learn to easily navigate River Valleys’ Adult Awards and Recognition program, identify which GSUSA and River Valleys’ awards are appropriate for the volunteers you know. Get tips on how to compose a nomination letter that includes the important details that increase the likelihood that your nomination will be approved by the Adult Awards and Recognition Committee. It is highly recommended that all service units send a representative to this informative session.
DELEGATE FORUM – 1.5 HOURS
This workshop provides a chance for delegates, district chairs, and alternates to meet with council staff to discuss core business strategy and recent GSUSA initiatives, as well as an opportunity to connect, ask questions, and voice concerns.
Appropriate participants: Service unit delegates, alternate delegates, district chairs, and other interested members.
FAST START TRAINING
Calling all Fast Start Coaches to complete required training and learn how to guide new leaders with the information they need to start a troop, understand their service unit, and work with other adults who support their troop.
SERVICE UNIT RECRUITER TRAINING – 1.5 HOURS
Learn about your role as a service unit membership recruiter and how to work with your service team to recruit, place, and retain girls and adult volunteers. Learn about the position and gain helpful tips about how to carry out recruiter tasks in an effective manner.
Appropriate participants: Service unit membership recruiters, or those interested in assisting with recruitment.
SERVICE UNIT EVENT PLANNING – 1.5 HOURS
Are others looking to you to coordinate service unit events, such as encampments, badge workshop days, or “My Pal and Gal” events? Join us to learn about the basics of planning a successful event and get ideas to take back to your service unit. Sample event ideas are included. Feel free to bring information about your own events (even the not-so-successful ones). Hear how some of these events can be tied to the annual family partnership (annual giving) campaign.
Appropriate participants: Service unit event planners, annual giving coordinators, or anyone interested in planning an event.
SERVICE UNIT MANAGER TRAINING – 3 HOURS
Learn about your role as the service unit manager and how to work with and lead the service team. Learn some helpful tips to carry out the tasks of your position in an efficient manner and receive a manual with plenty of resources.Appropriate participants: Service unit managers, co-manager, or those interested in the position.
ALL ABOUT GIRL SCOUTS
BEYOND DOOR TO DOOR – 1.5 HOURS
Need some ideas for cookie sales beyond the traditional door-to-door method? If so, check out this workshop with our council’s cookie guru and explore great non-traditional ways girls can sell cookies.

CELEBRATING GIRL SCOUTS - HOLIDAYS & SONGS – 1.5 HOURS
Thinking Day, Founder’s Day, A Girl Scouts Own. What are the Girl Scout Holidays? How do we celebrate them? Instill the honor and value of Girl Scouts by teaching girls about our holidays and ceremonies. When girls understand the “reason for the season” they value the specialness of the Girl Scout origin, traditions, and themselves as Girl Scouts.
Appropriate participants: All leaders and service unit team members

GIRL SCOUT BRAND VOICE TRAINING - 1.5 HOURS
What you say tells the world about you. What you say as a Girl Scout volunteer tells the world a lot about Girl Scouting. Learn how to say the right thing and speak with one, united Girl Scout Voice whether it is to your neighbor or your newspaper. Girl Scouts of the USA is developing a new Girl Scout brand, and this is your opportunity to be among the first in the nation trained to use it. After this fun, informational session you will be able to talk the talk to match the walk you walk everyday as a Girl Scout volunteer.
Appropriate participants: All; required for service unit public relations representatives, or those interested in assisting with public relations.
COVER YOUR ASSETS: MANAGING TROOP FUNDS – 1.5 HOURSJoin us for a practical examination of managing troop funds in a way that “covers the assets” of everyone involved in handling money. Learn how you can track and protect troop/group funds simply and painlessly and complete a year-end financial statement quickly and easily. Involve girls in managing troop money in a way that helps them learn and makes your job easier, too.

EXPLORING CAMP LAKAMAGA – 3 HOURS
Whether you are a Camp Lakamaga “first timer” or a seasoned veteran, you will enjoy a fun and informative tour of the camp. See the whole camp and share ideas on how programs can be developed here as well as at other sites.
FRIENDS – 1.5 HOURS
Experience firsthand a program that may be brought to your Daisy, Brownie or Junior troop to help your girls be better friends. The “Friends” facilitator will talk about friendship, the quality of being a good friend and how this all fits with the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

TROOP BONDING AND TEAM BUILDING THROUGH GAMES – 1.5 HOURS
Learn fun, active, indoor and outdoor games for girls of all ages. As a leader, you'll be glad to have these great options in your bag of tricks.

LEADERSHIP PROJECTS ROUNDTABLE – 2 HOURS
Come share, discuss, or brainstorm real-world ideas to help guide girls through the selection, planning, and successful implementation of leadership projects. The group discussion is divided among those who are interested in the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Girl Scout Awards.Appropriate participants: Girl Scout Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Leaders.
LET’S GET KNOTTY – 1.5 HOURS
Learn Girl Scout knots, safety knots, household knots, and rope care. Take home your samples.
Bring: Two lengths of rope or cording (each about 5 feet long) that are relatively easy to handle.

MEAN GIRLS/BULLYING - 1.5 HOURS
Help girls develop the skills to combat various types of bullying, including emotional and cyber bullying? Learn to use the Girl Scout Promise and Law as a foundation to help girls understand what friendship means and examine practical ways of dealing with bullying.
MONEY EARNING FOR OLDER GIRLS - 1.5 HOURS
Are your older Girl Scouts looking for ways to supplement their proceeds from the annual Cookie Program Activity? Learn how to partner with girls to plan money earning activities, discuss and share money earning ideas, and maximize girls’ individual skill and leadership development.
OLD GLORY FOR ALL - 1.5 HOURS
The American flag is a symbol of our country and is recognized around the world. Come learn its history, proper procedures and protocols for flag ceremonies, and the U.S. Flag Code for the proper display, respect, and dignified disposal of the flag.

OTTER KITS - 3 HOURS
Outdoor Tips and Tricks for Environmental Resource Stewardship are wonderful resources for leaders and a great patch program for girls. Each kit focuses on a topic such as trees, birds, nature awareness, and cooperative games. Kits have instructions and supplies to complete most activities on the subject and can be checked out for troop use. Explore the kits with a facilitator who will give suggestions as to how to best utilize this resource.
OUTSIDE-THE-BOX ACTIVITIES FOR OLDER GIRLS – 1.5 HOURS
Ever wonder what it takes to run Spookamaga, Caddoodles, older girl encampments, or a career day? Older girls are looking for ways to experience things beyond the troop level and get involved in activities with larger groups. Find out how these activities help sustain girls’ interest in Girl Scouting and give them skills and confidence to tackle bigger and better things.
Appropriate participants: Girl Scout Junior, Cadette, and Senior Leaders.
RELIGIOUS RECOGNITIONS - 2 HOURS
The motivating force in Girl Scouting is a spiritual one. Every time we make the Girl Scout Promise, we promise “to serve God.” Girl Scouts have many faiths and are welcomed to replace the word “God” with the term that best fits their spiritual beliefs. Come learn about the religious recognitions programs and how to encourage girls, along with their families to explore these programs and their faith.
SILLY SONGS – 1.5 HOURS
Just what were the words to that crazy ditty that had you in stitches? Girl Scouts love to sing! Let your inner child sing at this workshop filled with traditional songs, silly songs, rounds, camp songs, and songs for ceremonies. Even if you can’t carry a tune, it’s your chance to learn the songs the girls have learned at camp.

THE TIES THAT BIND US ACROSS THE SEA – 2 HOURS
Who’s that girl across the sea? Come learn more about WAGGGS, Girl Guides, World Friendship Centers, and World Thinking Day. You’ll get ideas for how you can bring it all to the girls.

TRIPLE TREAT – 3 HOURS
Singing, dancing, and sticks – oh my! Come learn a few new rounds, folk dance to familiar tunes, and strike a beat with lemmi sticks. If you just want to have fun or are looking for songs and music based activities to take back to your troop, this is the place to be!

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'RE ALONE - 2 HOURS
A class to help leaders teach their girls about what to do when they are home alone. How and when to answer the door and telephone. What to do in a storm or any other type of emergency. How and when to call for help. When should you lock doors, etc.
WIGGLES & GIGGLES – 1.5 HOURS
Why don’t girls sit still and listen? Learn techniques, share stories, and work on solutions to common behavioral issues with young girls to rein in the energy while having fun.
Appropriate participants: Girl Scout Daisy and Brownie leaders.
LIFE SKILLS AND OUTDOOR WORKSHOPS
ARCHERY FOR FUN – 1.5 HOURS
Try your hand at archery or shoot for fun. Learn about archery safety, how to choose your equipment, and enjoy taking aim at the targets.

Note: This session will not prepare/allow you to teach archery to girls.
CANOE BASICS – 3 HOURS
Beginning canoeists or those with some experience will benefit from this class. Learn the essentials of canoe safety, including the basic strokes and how they are used to control the canoe. Most of the class time will be supervised practice and games to help you improve your skills. The instructor will provide assistance as needed.

Note: This class is not for participants planning to take the Canoe Safety Certification at the conference.
CANOES/FUNYAKS LEISURE TIME – 1.5 HOURS
Take a leisurely trip out on the lake with an old friend, or meet a new one. This activity is for those who enjoy canoeing or want to try out a Funyak (a small version of a kayak). Class is held weather permitting.

COMPASS & TRAIL SIGNS – 3 HOURS
Learn to use a compass and read trail signs (compasses will be available if you do not have one). Come prepared to play outdoors. Learn how to lay simple trail signs and create orienteering games to share with girls. Younger girls love making and following the trail signs, and they’re so easy to do. Everything you need is right on the ground around you!

COOK IT, CAMP IT, CREATE IT! – 3 HOURS
Come join the Camping Divas for a hands-on troop meeting built around outdoor cooking, camp crafts, and music. What we’re creating together is community—with each other and the earth.

Bring: Dunk bag (mesh bag with plate, cup, fork and spoon) and a willingness to have fun.
FITNESS COURSE
Experience the fitness stations on the Camp Lakamaga Parcourse. Walk or jog to each of the stations along the walkway, determine your fitness level, and try out each of the stations. Receive a course map to use later with your girls. Don’t miss this chance to learn how to encourage girls to take advantage of this great course right at camp!
FITNESS YOGA – 1.5 HOURS
HOURS Challenge your mind/body connection with this high energy, athletic style of yoga. It’s a combination of traditional yoga poses that focus on strength and balance, plus relaxing poses for flexibility. The mind becomes focused and the body relaxed.Appropriate participants: All Bring: Your own yoga mat, if desired.
FUN & FIT TO GIRL SCOUT TUNES – 1.5 HOURS
Put on your dancing shoes and grab a towel. Enjoy aerobic dance exercise to Girl Scout tunes.
Wear: comfortable clothing and shoes in which to exercise
GEOCACHE AND LETTERBOXES – 3 HOURS
Catch on to two great activities that combine map skills and treasure hunting! Learn how to use Global Position System (GPS) units and find your first geocache. Practice clue solving, compass skills, and making your own stamps as an introduction to letterboxes. This class is held outdoors; wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Appropriate participants: All; volunteers working with girls aged 8-17 are recommended.
“GO GREEN” THROUGH LEAVE NO TRACE AWARENESS – 1.5 HOURS
Leave No Trace is a set of principles designed to assist visitors with their decisions when they travel and camp on America’s public lands. The program strives to educate visitors about the nature of their recreational impacts as well as techniques to prevent and minimize such impacts. Learn the basics of Leave No Trace, about the international organization, available trainings, the seven basic principles, and how to use the principles in a troop setting with girls.

LET’S GO DUTCH – 3 HOURS
Prepare and cook a variety of foods using a Dutch Oven. Focus on Dutch Oven cooking, but you may include other cooking methods including Box Ovens and pie irons.

NATURALLY FUN – 1.5 HOURS
Explore ways to appreciate our natural environment with hands-on activities and games. Learn and play the natural way! Get ideas to bring back to girls and enrich your own ideas about the world around you. Appropriate participants: All
PADDLE AWAY! – 1.5 HOURS
Need help teaching your girls how to paddle? Learn some fun games and tips to help teach canoe skills. If you are a Canoe Safety Certified volunteer or an experienced canoeist, this class is for you. Use canoe and water games to get girls paddling and practicing various strokes while having fun. Appropriate participants: Experienced canoeists. Note: This class gives you tips and games to teach girls basic canoe skills, but does not certify you to take girls canoeing. Canoe Safety Certification is needed by at least one adult to take girls canoeing.
PROJECT LEARNING TREE - 3 HOURS
This international award-winning environmental educational program uses the forest as a “window on the world” to increase girls’ understanding of our complex environment. It teaches not only about trees but also about land, air, and water. Attend this “tickler” to learn how to help instill girls’ confidence and commitment, as well as your own, to take responsible action on behalf of the environment.
PROJECT WET AND PROJECT WILD - 3 HOURS
Project Wet and Project Wild are conservation and environmental education programs designed for formal and non-formal educators working with kids. These hands-on, interactive activities are focused on water (Project Wet) and wildlife (Project Wild). Attend this “tickler” to learn how to increase your girls’ appreciation of the out-of-doors and take home lots of helpful hand outs.
CRAFTS AND ACTIVITIES
DESIGNER T-SHIRTS – 1.5 HOURS
Turn a basic T-shirt into a fabulous designer shirt using shoelaces and scissors. Your girls will love creating their own style with this activity!
Bring: A T-shirt, a long pair of shoelaces in a color coordinating with the shirt, a ruler and scissors.

EXPLORE SCIENCE KITS– 2 HOURS
Come learn about the council’s exciting new science resource/program kits. Learn how to bring more to life with your troop with string telephones, sand and water clocks, and pinball.

GET CREATIVE WITH MONKEY FISTS – 1.5 HOURS
Create your very own Monkey Fist necklace! It doesn’t matter if you’ve tried to tie one before or “knot,” explore many ways to tie this decorative and sturdy knot.
HEMP BRACELETS – 2 HOURS
Make some simple and unique jewelry using hemp. Hemp cord has become a popular and inexpensive material for many different projects. Girls of all ages enjoy making and wearing groovy jewelry.

HUNGARIAN WEAVING – 1.5 HOURS
Get back to basics in this awesome weaving class. Build a loom and learn the simple form of braiding to make belts, guitar straps and more.

MACRAMÉ – 3 HOURS
Do you want to learn to macramé, but you’re afraid that it is “knot” so simple? Macramé is the art of tying basic knots into beautiful items such as bookmarks, wall hangings and plant hangers. Learn to make simple macramé projects that you can share with your troop.

PHOTOGRAPHY - BEGININNG - 1.5 HOURS
Learn the basics of composition and lighting as you have fun taking pictures.
Bring: Your camera and manual.
BEYOND POINT AND SHOOT – INTERMEDIATE PHOTOGRAPHY – 2 HOURS
Want to do more with your digital camera? Discover how to use different shooting modes to take better pictures. Learn about landscape, portrait, sport, night, and other camera settings. Check your manual to make sure your camera has shooting mode options (or scene settings).
Bring:your camera and manual.
TIE-RIFFIC TOTES – 1.5 HOURS
Join us at the Old Lodge to make some great stylish new bags from old ties! Sizes and styles for all ages—what you make is up to you (and how many ties you can round up to recycle!)
Bring: An old pair of jeans, men’s ties, cording or strap material, and your “go green” enthusiasm.
Appropriate participants: Sewing experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
STENCILS – 1.5 HOURS
Stenciling is a long-standing tradition at the Lakamaga Conference. Learn how to stencil designs on fabric with paint, as well as how to teach stenciling to a large groups of girls.

Bring: A shirt, bag, apron or pillow case to stencil.
SWAPS – 1.5 HOURS
What are SWAPS and why do Girl Scouts like them so much? Depending upon whom you ask, SWAPS stands for “Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere” or something “Shared With A Pal.” This workshop will introduce you to a timeless Girl Scout tradition of trading small mementos as you make friends with other Girl Scouts. Learn about the history and etiquette of making and sharing SWAPS. Girls love making and trading them, so this is a great activity to include in encampments and other service unit events. You’ll see samples of SWAPS as well as make and take a variety of items with you. Join in the fun by bringing your own examples to display or make some to trade.
Appropriate participants: All
Bring: A hat, tote bag, or neckerchief to attach your SWAPS to. SWAPS to trade (optional).
TEXTING 101 – 1.5 HOURS
BFF. CD9! WYCM? Their really is a foreign language between parents and kids. Learn to use the text feature on your cell phone and to begin to speak their language.
Bring: Cell phone with an existing text message package.
Warning: Check your cell phone plan in advance so that you know the quantity of text messages you can send and receive without incurring additional charges.
