Beyond the Workshop

Biking

Bring your own bike to camp or borrow one from the Bierbauer Welcome Center (2 hour time limit). This is a great way to explore camp; safety rules must be obeyed so bring your own helmet, if you don’t want to use the ones from camp.

RiverValleys News You Can Use

Join River Valleys’ CEO Linda Baker Keene on Saturday following lunch for an update on council news. The Leadership Essentials class will immediately follow.

Early Risers Hike

Join an informal group of early risers at 7 a.m. on the patio of the Annie Paper Dining Hall for a morning hike on both Saturday and Sunday. Experience the beauty of early morning camp. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.

Explore EKCO, OTTER, and Sports Equipment Kits

Discover some of the council offerings in both program resources and sports equipment, set up at the back of the Annie Paper Dining Hall. EKCO and OTTER kits have activities to do with your girls—you just have to reserve a kit and pick it up at the council office. The sports equipment is available at the conference for free time activities.

Girl Scouts’ Own Ceremony

On Saturday evening everyone is invited to participate in a conference tradition, a Girl Scouts’ Own. This ceremony is planned by the participants and gives everyone a chance to reflect on a topic, often related to the conference theme. The ceremony usually contains poetic or interpretive readings, songs, instrumentals, and/or reflection. The ceremony will be directly after the Saturday evening entertainment.

Make New Friends Game

Use this name game to start conversations with new friends. The game board is in your welcome folder and you can work on it all weekend, whenever you like. Complete the card to get a prize.

Me Time

Participants at the conference should plan to take some personal time to relax and enjoy the camp surroundings. Bring a folding chair to camp and create your own outdoor space to just sit and relax. It’s okay not to register for classes in every time slot!

Other Free Time Fun

Swim, bike, hike, sit, talk, relax, watch birds, reminisce, reflect, journal, draw, socialize, nap—whatever you would like to do, it is up to you!

Quilting Service Project

The pattern may change, but the goal remains: create quilts to bring warmth to people who need it. Once again we’ll be quilting the weekend away at the Old Lodge Art Studio. Stop in anytime between dawn and midnight. Everyoneis welcome, regardless of sewing abilities.

Scavenger Hunt

Find the clues around camp to complete a scavenger hunt that will give you a tour of the entire facility. Complete the scavenger hunt card to get a prize.

SWAPS and More Craft Exchange

Bring a SWAP or favorite craft to share! Let others see the creative things your troop/group has done. There will be a space set up in SNAFU for those who would like to exchange craft ideas: bring an example of your project and copies of directions (at least 30 copies); if you have any materials to share, bring those as well. There will be some craft supplies for simple SWAPS to make and take. Even if you have nothing to share but your enthusiasm for crafts, stop in to find out what others have done and take away ideas to bring to your troop.
