The BBB is proud to offer an annual scholarship program recognizing Students of Integrity. These scholarships are designed to recognize and promote ethics and integrity among young people. The BBB will award one $5,000 and one $2,500 scholarship to two graduating high school seniors who personify all of the best aspects of high character in their personal choices and actions. Scholarship money is awarded directly toward winners’ post-secondary education expenses (tuition or room/board only) at any accredited institution. Deadline is Sept. 21, 2011.

Camperships: Get Help Paying for Camp

At River Valleys, we believe all girls should experience the benefits of camp. If you would like to attend camp but cost is a barrier, we encourage you to request a grant through the Grants for Girls program. Thanks to generous donors, this money is here to help you come to camp, and we’d love for you to use it.

Things to know:

You can request a grant for any amount of the total cost of camp.
No proof of income is required.
All grant requests are confidential.

To apply for a grant:

Fill out the Grants for Girls camp form and mail it in with your completed camp registration form and a $10 non-refundable deposit.
For family or troop camp: Fill out a registration form and a Grants for Girls form for each member who needs one; then send in all forms together, along with the remaining balance of the payment (the cost of camp minus the amount requested in grants).

Remember, you can also use Cookie Credits to pay for camp to make camp even more affordable. By participating in the Cookie Program Activity or the Fall Product Program, you earned Fall Product FUNds or Cookie Credits, which are both redeemable for any River Valleys camp session.

$2,500 College Scholarship Available Through United Way

Greater Twin Cities United Way is accepting applications for the Juliet Evans Nelson Scholarship. The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded by Greater Twin Cities United Way and the Nelson family to an outstanding youth volunteer. Qualified applicants must be high school juniors for the 2010-2011 school year and must live and volunteer in Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Scott, or Washington counties. The student must be planning to enter post-secondary education in the fall of 2012.

The Juliet Evans Nelson Scholarship was established by the Nelson family in 1987 in memory of their daughter, sister, and friend, Juliet. The scholarship recognizes the contributions young people make in our community, honors those who demand the best of themselves and who, like Juliet, cherish life and live it with a purpose.

A typed application and two letters of recommendation must be submitted by April 20, 2011, to be eligible. Applications may be obtained by e-mailing nelsonscholarship@unitedwaytwincities.org with the student’s name and address. The scholarship recipient will be notified in the late spring of 2011.
