Does your troop know about the Fall Product Program? It’s a quick, easy two-week sale that’s just to friends and family.

The Fall Product sale runs October 6–21 and is a great way to earn money early in the year. Last year, the average girl earned $27.50 for her troop.

Troops have the option to customize the program to fit their needs and time commitment. They may choose a combination of the options below:

Nuts and chocolates

Magazines

In-person orders

Online orders

Address booklets

Nuts and Chocolates

The nut and chocolate items available through Fall Product make great holiday gifts. The 2012 line-up features many returning favorites as well as some delicious new offerings. Troops earn $1.00 per nut/chocolate item sold.

Magazines (in-person and online)

Girls may sell magazine subscriptions or renewals either in-person or online. Friends and family benefit by getting their favorite magazines at up to 90 percent off newsstand prices. Troops earn $2.50 per magazine subscription sold.

Address booklets

If your Girl Scouts have family and friends that they would not normally contact during the Fall Product sale, they can write down their names and addresses, and QSP will mail them a magazine flier. Troops earn $2.50 per address booklet completed (limit one per girl).

The event’s goals are aligned with the Financial Literacy program for which BGGS receives funding. Girl Scouts wants to build financial leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, BGGS girls learn about marketing, market analysis, finances, and other business strategies. All these activities are part of an extensive college preparatory curriculum that goes in depth about being financially ready for college.

During the Your Own Cookie Business Program, girls were able to learn about 2010 Cookie Program Activity goals and objectives. They also had a chance to learn about business planning, marketing, and branding.

“Before coming to this event, I did not know that selling cookies had so much financial planning behind it … I learned a lot about selling more cookies by having an well-defined marketing plan,” said JuTon, a Junior grade High School student from Minneapolis.
