We’re asking you to submit summer photos from your Girl Scout experience by emailing them to Girl Scouts Public Relations for a chance to appear on one of those billboards. Did you go to camp? Travel? Try new activities? We want your pictures!

One winning image will be featured on a billboard in the Twin Cities metro area in 2013. Photos must be from the 2012–2013 program year and feature currently registered girls. Submitting photos to Girl Scouts Public Relations authorizes Girl Scouts River Valleys to use them without further approval. For best results, avoid submitting photos taken with a phone. River Valleys has sole discretion in the selection of the winning image.

Send in your pictures of booths held from March 1-3, and your troop may win $100 in Cookie Credits and “Bling My Booth” patches for the entire troop.

Two troops will win – one prize goes to younger girls (Daisies, Brownies and Juniors) and one goes to older girls (Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors.

Eligible booths are held between March 1 and 3, and only one entry will be accepted per troop. To enter, email a picture of your booth to our Cookie team by March 6 at 8 pm.

Entry Requirements

• Girls must have adult supervision while filming and submitting their video. The supervising adult must acquire parent/guardian permission for all girls appearing in the video.
• Girls must identify themselves as Girl Scouts. They should be in uniform or wearing a Girl Scout t-shirt or pin.
• Girls may not say their last name, address, phone number of any other private informationin the video.
• Videos may not be longer than four minutes.
• Have fun!
• Limit of one entry per troop.

How to Submit Your Video

• Upload your video onto YouTube. (We recommend selecting “Unlisted” from the Privacy Settings.)
• Copy the URL link provided. It’s at the top of by page by the preview of your video just after “Upload complete! Your video will be live at:”
• Email the link to Product Program with “Best Pitch Video” in the subject line. Include your troop number and Girl Scout grade level in the body of the email.

Show Your Girl Scout Pride

To participate, girls are asked to wear their Girl Scout uniform, pins and related items to school. Girls can help spread the word about the fun and friendship of Girl Scouts by talking with friends or handing out this flyer.

Troop Incentive

All participating girls are eligible to win special VIP seating for their troop at the May 4 Cookie Concert. To enter, simply take a photo on January 17 dressed up in your Girl Scout attire and email it to Laura Sartain by January 30. Write “Spirit Day” in the subject line, and include your troop number and troop leader’s name and contact information in the body of the email.

Four winners will be selected and notified by email the week of February 11. Winners will also be featured on River Valleys’ Facebook page. Keep in mind that to attend the cookie concert, your troop must first purchase the Party in a Bag for the National Cookie Sleepover.

Get creative and have some fun. Try a little face paint, green ribbons or homemade T-shirts. We can’t wait to see all the fun photos!

What is the Centennial Day of Service?

On October 13th, 2012 River Valleys’ Girl Scouts and volunteers will participate in the largest single-day clean up ever in River Valleys’ history! Together we are going to clean-up loose dirt and leaves from sewer grates, boat launches, city parks, parking lots around neighborhood schools, local stores, or any other kind of public space, by raking, sweeping, bagging and leaves that fall on paved surface and pile up.

This project will decrease the algae growth in local lakes, streams, rivers and ponds. Can you believe that on one day 54,000 people, girls and adults, will all be doing the same project all around our council in their local communities? River Valleys’ will create a lasting impact!

If you want to design the patch for this awesome project, the final submissions are due November 15, 2011. After this deadline, the top 20 designs will be posted online for everyone to vote on their favorite! Over the next two weeks, models will be notified by letter (via U.S. Postal Service) of their selection. Once selections are accepted, everyone who applied will be notified.

As a reminder, these models will be included in promotional activities and 100th Anniversary announcements throughout the 2011–2012 school year. There will be more opportunities for interested girls to apply in future years.

We are looking for girls of all ages and backgrounds. Priority will be given to the first 1000 submissions. Girls selected will need to commit to a total of 25 hours of photo time over the next twelve months. As a thank you, girls who are selected and participate in photo shoots will receive a gift card to the Mall of America at the end of the program year.

Requirements and eligibility

• Current River Valleys troops may participate in the lottery
• All girls must be registered Girl Scouts
• Girl Scout Brownie, Junior, Senior, Cadette, and Ambassador troops or Juliettes may apply
• Troop must be available for a 3-hour time slot (orientation included) on either Saturday, September 3 or Sunday, September 4
• Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts occur between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
• Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on July 31

Job descriptions

• Selling: Three girls and three accompanying adults
• On-site promoting: Two girls (optional cookie costumes available) and one accompanying adult
• In order to be eligible, your troop must bring five Girl Scouts and four adult volunteers (troops may not bring more than five girls to participate in the booth).

River Valleys’ Product Program staff will support troops in the Cookie Booth and River Valleys will provide all cookie inventory.

Troop proceeds and accommodations

• All troops* will receive an equal share of proceeds from cookies sold over the two-day event. Troop proceeds are $0.55 per package.
• Each troop will receive four adult and five girl admission tickets.
• Each troop will receive four adult and five girl commemorative t-shirts to keep and wear during the booth sale.*Five Juliettes will be combined to form one troop.
