Invest in a Strong Future - for Girls.

With a large membership of more than 60,000 girl and adult members, expansion of leadership development programs, affordable program and training fees, and member/volunteer resources, additional financial assistance is required for River Valleys.

To continue the tradition of serving all girls – regardless of financial barriers – Girl Scouts relies on generous individual gifts and Family Fundraising Campaign donations from members, as well as foundation, corporate, and government grants to help support the mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

The annual $12 membership fee does not support Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys; it is sent directly to Girl Scouts of the USA for national program development and activity insurance.

Women of Distinctionlogo

Thank you for supporting the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys’ inaugural Women of Distinction luncheon!  Held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota, more than 450 guests celebrated the accomplishments of eight amazing women in our community.  Click here for more information about the event and to view photos. FOX9 news anchor Robyne Robinson served as the event emcee, and guests were honored to hear from United States Senator Amy Klobuchar and Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak.

The Women of Distinction honorees are role models whose professional accomplishments, leadership and community contributions inspire girls to reach their highest potential. All eight honorees had been a Girl Scout, which only reinforces our message that Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Event guests also interacted with our future leaders – our girls. Girl Scouts of all ages participated in the event – greeting guests, serving as hostesses, and selling cookies. Girl speaker Jessica Lara, who brought the audience to tears as she shared her story about how Girl Scouting has greatly impacted her life, echoed the sentiment of the day that the Women of Distinction are truly the women that today’s girls want to emulate.

We look forward to your continued support for next year’s Girl Scouts Women of Distinction luncheon on April 8, 2010 Learn more about the upcoming event here. On behalf of the more than 45,000 Girl Scouts in River Valleys, thank you again!

Family Fundraising Campaign

Families, you too can make a difference in a girl’s leadership development by making a financial gift to River Valleys.  Now, more than ever, parents, grandparents, other adult family members, and friends of Girl Scouting are needed to support the programs that prepare girls for lives as active, engaged citizens.  The leadership skills that girls gain today are invaluable in helping our girls become successful women tomorrow.  The Family Fundraising Campaign (formerly called Family Partnership) is a council-wide effort carried out by adult volunteers to help cover day-to-day operating expenses—the costs incurred to provide volunteer training, safe and well-maintained facilities, council-sponsored program events and activity kits, Grants for Girls/Adults (financial assistance), and much more.

Consider what the following donation amounts can provide:

Remember, the annual $12 membership fee is sent directly to Girl Scouts of the USA for national program development and activity insurance and does not support Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys.

Take the opportunity to say, “I value Girl Scouting for my girl and all girls!”  To make a donation, contact the Fund Development Department at 651-227-8835, 800-845-0787, or famfundraising@girlscoutsrv.org . Your gift makes it happen!
