Lifeguard Certification
Date: Monday 3 June 2013–Wednesday 5 June 2013
Time: 8:30 am–6:00 pm
Location: Camp Lakamaga
The purpose of the lifeguarding course is to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. This course will include the First aid certificate and the CPR/AED for Lifeguards. There will be a written and practical test at the end of each course.
Prerequisites: Participants must be at least 15 years of age on or before the final session on this course. Participants must be able to complete a 300 yard continuous swim and then complete a 20 yard swim and 10lb object retrieval from 7-10 feet of water.
The course will start at 8:30 a.m. on the first day and run until 9:00 p.m. each night, except the last day which will end around dinner time. Lodging and meals are provided and are included in the cost of the course. Travel to another camp or pool 1 hour away may be required one day of the course. Camp transportation will be available for those without their own.
