Program Resources for Troops and Service Units |
Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys prides itself on providing troops and service units with up-to-date resources to help girls get the most out of their Girl Scout experience.
Planning resources provide information on planning troop trips, troop money-earning projects, service unit events, and more. It also includes a list of helpful websites. Visit this section again soon for helpful resources.
At-the-meeting resources offer listings of council equipment for loan/rent, our own council's curricula, community partners that will deliver programming at your meetings, and much more.
Beyond-the-meeting resources include community events for Girl Scouts, field trip ideas, and community service alerts.
Daisy and Brownie Girl Planning Tools
These resources are to be used as a companion piece to the “Online listing of Council-Sponsored Program Events” to assist with girl planning for the coming year.
Ways to use the girl planning tools:
- Hand it out to the girls and give them the instructions “color or make an X by the things you would like to do;” this piece was designed as a coloring sheet. When they’re done, look at the results to find out where the girls have common interests, and then use the “Online Listing of Council-Sponsored Program Events” to tell the girls more about the events they’d like to try.
- Review the piece, event by event, with the girls by reading the “Online Listing of Council-Sponsored Program Events” description that relates to each picture.
Keywords are listed under each picture to make online navigation to the event quicker. Once girls know more about each event, they could color or make an X by the things they’d like to do and then compare results.
- If troop time/dollar resources for council-sponsored program events are limited or you think the girls might color/make an X by all the pictures, give them some parameters, such as “pick your top three.” You also might encourage them to “work on their own,” since girls this age are easily influenced by their peers’ interests.
- Keep a clean copy to make additional copies for meetings if the piece is going to be used for continued planning.
NOTE: This also is a great piece to use when parents/guardians are at a meeting, and for girls to take home to share what opportunities are available to girls and their families.
The events listed are for events available October through February.
A girl planning tool for the remainder of the year will be available in December.

Our Own Council’s Curricula
River Valleys has published “our own council’s” curricula to supplement that of Girl Scouts of the USA. This includes: program support packets on topics such as community service, ceremonies, Thinking Day, and higher awards; patch programs on topics such as African-American culture, breast cancer awareness, and osteoporosis prevention; and, Earned Awards such as the “Electricity Party Try-It” and “Disability Awareness Badge.” Check back here soon to find a complete list of Our Own Council’s Curricula.
Community Events for Girl Scouts
Community Events are events, sponsored by other organizations, which are planned especially for Girl Scouts, are available only to Girl Scouts or offer special fees for Girl Scouts. River Valleys has screened and approved these events because they have proven to be great additions to the Girl Scout Program and supportive of the council’s program emphasis. However, River Valleys is not responsible for these events or for information about them that is subject to change. Click here to find a complete list of community events.
Community Resources for Girl Scouts
A list of community resources has been compiled by program staff throughout out our jurisdiction. This is intended to assist girls and leaders when planning activities. However, River Valleys is not responsible for these events or for information about them that is subject to change. Click here to see all of the Community resources.
