For Girls |
In our constantly changing world, we require individuals who are able to discover what is needed to make the world a better place and willing to take action to make a difference. We need individuals of courage, confidence, and character. We need Girl Scouts!
Leadership Awards
Girl Scouting offers hundreds of programs and activities that help girls become better leaders. This includes the Girl Scout Gold Award (for Girl Scouts 14-18), the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and one of the organizations’ most prominent leadership development programs. In addition, Girl Scouts ages 11-14 may earn the Girl Scout Silver Award. To receive these awards, girls must meet requirements that help them prepare for, and complete, a special project benefiting their communities. Based on requests from Junior Girl Scouts (ages 8-11), the Girl Scout Bronze Award was introduced in 2001. Today these three awards are a highlight of the Girl Scout experience.
Volunteer Opportunities
Girl Scouts has longstanding history and commitment to volunteering. Its part of the Girl Scout law to make the world a better place, which girls do every time they volunteer.
Over the last year, River Valleys Girl Scouts have participated in more than 200,000 hours of community service. Remember, always identify yourself as a Girl Scout when doing community service by wearing your Girl Scout pin or sash/vest.
The Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys promotes a variety of community service opportunities and believes that the decision to participate in any community service activity is best determined within the troop and the members of the individual’s family.
