Troops with prior riding experience that want to increase their comfort and skill level with horses will enjoy this intermediate program. Girls will practice saddling, bridling, and hitching horses. They’ll learn proper techniques for mounting/dismounting and how to turn and stop a horse on command from a walk or a trot. They’ll learn more about horse anatomy, equipment, and grooming and take in the scenery on a trail ride through camp. Each girl receives four hours of horse time, including two hours on a horse. Adults must attend, but do not ride.
