Each year, Girl Scouts River Valleys holds a Women of Distinction luncheon celebrating outstanding Twin Cities leaders whose professional accomplishments and community contributions make them positive role models for today’s Girl Scouts. The Women of Distinction honorees exemplify the Girl Scout Promise and Law through ethical leadership and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of their fellow citizens through community service. In highlighting these women, we hope to inspire girls to achieve their own goals and dreams.

We seek candidates from a broad range of professional and personal backgrounds. Previous experience in Girl Scouting or with youth empowerment programs is encouraged but not necessary.

Funds raised at the Women of Distinction event ensure that over 3,000 girls in Girl Scouts ConnectZ can participate at no cost to their families. ConnectZ provides an all-girl, culturally-responsive leadership program to girls who would otherwise not have access to the Girl Scout program. It helps girls learn, grow, and build skills for a successful future.

Nominees for this award are women who:

  • Support the ideals of the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
  • Demonstrate strong and growing commitment to the community.
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills as a role model or mentor of women and girls through advocacy, community service, and leadership.
  • Have achieved professional excellence in their field.
