Cookie Resources for Girls & Volunteers
YOUR TICKET TO A SPECTACULAR 2008 COOKIE PROGRAM ACTIVITY
It’s a historic time in Girl Scouting. Councils across the country are realigning and re-energizing to meet the challenges and needs of a new generation of Girl Scouts. Girls are learning first-hand how to discover, connect, and take action in the world around them and our communities are excited to benefit from their leadership and community service. It’s a great time to be a Girl Scout!
Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys (formerly the Girl Scout Councils of Cannon Valley, Greater Minneapolis, Peacepipe, River Trails, and St. Croix Valley) will serve approximately 49,000 girls in 49 counties in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Girl Scout staff members are working closely with volunteers to make sure that all Girl Scout activities, including the Girl Scout Cookie Program Activity, builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
Girls, volunteers, and families might notice some changes to the 2008 Girl Scout Cookie Program Activity as we continue to work together to move to one integrated program in 2009 and 2010. This year will be a hybrid program, with several consistent components across all five service center areas (formerly councils), including:
- One cookie baker, Little Brownie Bakers, with the same cookie varieties.
- Cookie Go Day is Saturday, January 19, 2008.
- Cookie selling periods, delivery dates, and cookie booth dates are the same.
- Cookies are $3.50 per package.
- Girl recognitions are similar at key package levels, including a special 500-package Club and celebration event.
- Girls earn Cookie Credits at specific package levels.
- A tiered troop cookie proceeds structure, based on the service center’s troop cookie proceeds
from last year.
We appreciate your continued support of your Girl Scout and her involvement in the
annual Cookie Program Activity.
HELP YOUR GIRL SCOUT… CONNECT AND TAKE ACTION!
Hold a family or troop meeting before order-taking begins to build confidence, share information, and discover new customers.
- Review and discuss safety rules on the cookie order card and on our baker’s website www.littlebrownie.com.
- Role-play a variety of customer situations with your Girl Scout: the enthusiastic customer, the customer who wants to know if there is a new cookie, the customer who wants a trans-fat free cookie, the customer who already bought some cookies, etc.
- Brainstorm a list of new cookie selling connections or locations: residential neighborhoods, businesses, community organizations, faith communities, sporting, and other local activities and events.
- Use the Girl Scout Cookie Program Activity information provided by your service center and the fun materials from our baker’s website www.littlebrownie.com to support your Girl Scout with the Cookie Program Activity.
Helping your Girl Scout track her progress will help her stay motivated. When she reaches her goals, celebrate!
