Introduction to working at camp

Dear Camp Staff Applicant,

On behalf of the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, thank you for your interest in working with girls at one of our amazing summer camps!  Our programs and facilities are of the highest quality thanks to the excellence and commitment of our staff teams. Year after year, our campers report that what they remember and treasure most from camp are the relationships and sense of community they develop with staff.  We encourage you to use this information as a tool to begin your journey to an unforgettable summer.  We hope that it answers many of your questions but please feel free to contact us with any additional thoughts or questions.

Work at Camp!
Spending a summer working with us at Girl Scout camp has many tangible and personal benefits.  By joining our camp staff you can:

Build valuable experience and develop your resume

  • Participate in intensive training; learn interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, risk and behavior management, decision making, emergency procedures, and outdoor skills.
  • Get hands-on experience that directly relates to fields such as recreation, psychology, education, and social work.
  • Heighten future job prospects by gaining experience that applies to all fields, including leadership techniques, human relations, team building, and more.

Work with a great team

  • Camp staff members come from throughout the United States and around the world, both men and women from a variety of background, professions, and interests.
  • Camp celebrates girls, welcomes staff and campers to learn about new cultures and people.
  • Some staff have Girl Scout experience, while others are new to the organization.  All are welcome and everyone brings value to the team.
  • Staff members share common goals and build friendships that will last a lifetime.

Earn money and much more

  • Room and board are provided as part of the compensation.
  • With very few expenses, you can earn and save money.
  • Gain immeasurable personal and career experiences; similar to campers, staff members also develop a personal sense of confidence, team work, and leadership abilities while at camp.

Share your talents and make a difference

  • Play an essential role in girls’ development by building caring relationships.
  • Share skills and talents that inspire and shape girls into strong, confident women.
  • Help girls discover their inner strength, beauty, and confidence.
  • Inspire girls to challenge themselves and try new things.
  • Work in a beautiful outdoor environment.

We hope this information helps you to make a decision about working at Girl Scout camp.
