Camp Sanderson is a 33-acre wooded camp on the shores of Nest Lake north of Willmar between the towns of Spicer and New London. The camp is bordered on two sides by water and another by a great state biking trail. Escape to the outdoors and hear and maybe see local wildlife, including loons, owls, deer, turtles, and toads.

Campers are greeted at the main lodge or dining hall when they arrive. This is where the girls eat twice a day, shower in the evening, go to the trading post and it is also the storm shelter. Camp has four tent cabin units two on the lakeside and two on the hillside. Each unit consists of four tent cabins that sleep up to seven girls on cots with mattress, two fire rings with all the equipment for a cookout, and cold running water.

Summer program for all age Girls Scouts is offered during the summer. Troop camping with a core staff is the main program at Camp Sanderson. Girls that are not in a troop may join in the troop camp program as an individual girl. The camp hires two counselors each summer to be the troop leader for those girls whose leader cannot attend or for girls that want to camp and the rest of the troop doesn’t.

Programming during morning sessions is badge, science, educational orientated. Afternoon program is recreational orientated with swimming, boating, biking, crafts. Each individual girl not the troop as a group and not the adult gets to choose what she want to participate in from a menu of options at every program session.

We have bikes for riding on the state biking trail and canoes and kayaks for traveling on the water. We have bows and arrows to us on the archery range and fishing poles to catch fish in the lake with. There is a pond study area and a nature photography area. It is a great beginning camping experience for both girls and adults. Camp staff leads all the activities with the girls.
