River Valleys' 100th Anniversary Patch Program

Use the patch program to actively engage girls in the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting. They will learn:

• the history of Girl Scouting
• the influence Girl Scouting has had on women in our community
• the opportunities available to them through Girl Scouting
• the impact they as Girl Scouts can have on our community

Please note: River Valleys badges and patch programs listed below have not been updated for the 2011-2012 Girl Scout year to reflect the Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting, so some of the references and page numbers may be out of date.  These awards are also not referenced in the 2011-2012 Program Essentials Charts.  The Girl Program department will be reviewing these awards this year to determine how they may best fit the National Program Portfolio and will update this list for fall 2012.

Electricity Party Try-It (Grades 2-3)
Learn about electricity and how it relates to the human body through discovery processes used by early inventors and scientists.

I’m Electric! Badge (Grades 4-5)
Learn about electricity in the human body through experimentation, career exploration, and modeling how muscles, nerve cells, and neurons work.

Mush On! Interest Project Patch (Grades 6-12) - this badge is no longer in stock.
Explore the world of dog sledding, meet a “musher,” and cheer on your favorite dog sled team as you earn this Interest Project Patch.

Breast Cancer Awareness Patch (Grades 4-12)
Learn about breast cancer, including prevention, risk factors, signs, symptoms, detection, and treatment.

Celebrate Diversity Patch (Grades 2-12)
Develop your appreciation of the uniqueness and commonalities of yourself and others, your culture, and other cultures.

Getting to Know Us Patch (Grades 2-12)
This patch program helps girls understand, appreciate, and respect people’s similarities and differences.

Go Green Girl! Tool Kit and Patch Program (Grades 4-12)
Learn more about what you can do to reduce, reuse and then recycle to make this world a better place.

Leadership Activities (Grades 4-8)
Explore what leadership is and how you can improve your leadership skills each and every day.  Please note that patches are no longer availalble, but the curriculum is available for leadership activities. 

Walk a Mile in Another Girl’s Shoes (Grades 2-12)
Explore the differences and similarities among people by learning about physical, cognitive, and learning disabilities.

OTTERS (Outdoor Tips and Tricks for Environmental Resource Stewardship) (Grades 2-12)
Series of patches and kits with fun nature exploration activities. Check out a kit and complete four to six activities to earn an OTTERS base patch. Try other kits and earn add-on OTTERS fish patches. See Program Kits for more information.
