Troop Recognized for Act of Service by U.S. Congressman John Kline

john-kline-with-troop-newsThe Girl Scouts in River Valleys Junior troop 55500 were recently recognized by U.S. Congressman John Kline for their great act of community service at the “Star of the North” ceremony. These Girl Scouts were given a Congressional Certificate of Special Recognition at this annual event, which honors residents and organizations from Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District for their acts of service and generosity.

Using proceeds from participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, troop 55500 purchased supplies to make over 300 sandwiches. They donated these sandwiches to Minneapolis Recreation Development, who distributed them to the hungry and homeless in the Twin Cities area.

John Kline told attendees of the ceremony, “These random acts of kindness and giving spirit are worthy of congressional recognition, and their acts of goodwill have an immeasurable impact as their stories reach others throughout our communities.”

It is wonderful seeing Girl Scouts make the world a better place and give back to their community with their cookie proceeds. Congratulations to troop 55500 for this special recognition!
