On January 16, Girl Scouts collaborated with Project Girl, an arts-based program led by Kelly Parks Snider that helps young women become aware of negative effects of media.
Over 80 middle school ConnectZ Girl Scouts met at Laura Jeffrey Academy and critically examined our media-based culture. Through Project Girl curriculum, short videos, group discussion, integrated art experiences, role-playing, and peer-to-peer presentations, girls explored how media influences their lives.
The event was girl-led and girl-empowered! High school leaders undertook a media literacy training workshop and facilitated the program for the younger girls.
The event was inspiring for girls and trainers alike. Kelly says, “The facilitators connected so naturally to the young girls and set such a great example. I’d love to do this again!”
