A Day of Inspiration at the ConnectZ Latina Conference

On December 7, sixty-five ConnectZ Girl Scouts joined us at Minnesota State University, Mankato for Adelante Juntas – the 2015 Latina Conference! While on campus, girls got a feel for college while discussing a variety of important topics.

In a session with Maria Isa, a local recording artist, girls explored cultural identity through music and created some new songs. Another session, led by the YWCA, focused on the heritage of women in leadership. Girls also discussed healthy relationships with representatives from the Center Against Domestic Abuse.

After lunch, girls got a closer look at college life by speaking with a panel of MSU students from the Latino Affairs Department. Then, Mara Borges-Gatewood, Ph.D led a conversation on navigating a new culture while in college. The conference wrapped up with a tour of MSU’s beautiful campus.

Thank you to our many event partners, staff, and Girl Scouts for this day of inspiration, music, and fun!
