This month, Girl Scouts River Valleys held two ceremonies to honor Gold and Silver Award recipients. Family and friends gathered to recognize the service and leadership of these young women as they were presented with their awards. The first ceremony was held on June 7, at Ted Mann Concert Hall on the University of Minnesota Campus. 169 Silver Award Recipients and 33 Gold Award recipients were in attendance. Gold Award recipient, Olivia Trudeau, acted as the emcee for the event. River Valleys board member and 2015 Women of Distinction Honoree, Michele Azar, gave an inspirational keynote speech.
On June 14, 38 Silver Award Recipients and four Gold Award Recipients received their awards at the Owatonna Holiday Inn and Suites. Eight-year-old Brownie Girl Scout, Keira Hemmann, was honored at the event as well. Keira was awarded the Girl Scout Medal of Honor, a lifesaving award, for rescuing a child that had fallen into a swimming pool. Ellen Voermans, a River Valleys staff member, volunteer, and former Silver and Gold Award recipient served as the emcee at the Owatonna ceremony. River Valleys CEO, Linda Keene, shared her words of wisdom with the girls and shared an inspirational video.
Congratulations to all of the award recipients! Here are a few pictures from the events:
