Parade season is upon us!
The White Bear South Service Unit marched along with veterans and many other community members in the local Memorial Day Parade; the girls had a blast handing out flags, bookmarks, stickers, and tattoos.
After the parade, the Girl Scouts watched a ceremony with service members of the community and veterans in the White Bear Lake Union Cemetery.
Later, the girls and troop leader and service unit recruiter, Danielle Davis, were approached by an older man who happened to be a veteran. He asked to shake Danielle’s hand. She said of course, but asked him why.
He leaned in and said, “Service of this kind is a dying trend. Thank you for bringing these girls to march with us.”
He then looked at the girls and said, “Girls, I’m so proud of you! Keep up the good work! Your community appreciates you so much!”
The whole group felt proud that a veteran would thank the Girls Scouts on a day set aside for them.
