Girls Scouts Eases Move to Minnesota

As Girl Scout Daisies in Ohio last year, Ava and Ella were surrounded by friends, but a career opportunity for their mom transferred the family to Minnesota this past summer.

While the girls were nervous about a new house, new friends, and a new school, their parents, Lynette and Moose, assured the girls that their Girl Scout journey could continue. In September, they started two new troops, and those troops now have close to 20 first and second graders.

Lynette and Moose were excited to use Girl Scouts to immerse their family in Excelsior, because they knew Girl Scouts would immediately build friendships, give them a positive activity, and get them involved in the community.

Scouting is a family event, with Lynette serving as the leader for both the Girl Scout Daisy and Brownie troops, and Moose as the meeting planner and cookie dad.

With the girls settled into Excelsior, the troops are excited to start giving back. They already helped keep their local waterways clean through the Community Cleanup and are excitedly planning a “give-back” themed celebration in December that will benefit the Toys for Tots program in Excelsior.
