Girl Scouts River Valleys has 75 free tickets for the Thursday, December 5 performance of Garden by the Kate Weare Company at the O’Shaughnessy on the St. Catherine University campus in St. Paul.
Raised by a painter and a printmaker, Kate Weare’s choreography reflects influences from visual art, music, and psychology. Garden holds true to these influences with an austere yet visually striking set that includes an upside-down tree, a large stump serving as a power base throughout the piece, and gorgeously impressionistic lighting. The four dancers alternately flirt and fight, seeking comfort in and challenging each other in rituals designed to cope with human frailty in the face of the uncontrollable natural world.
There is also a free Kate Weare Company post-performance discussion immediately following the performance from the stage of the O’Shaughnessy.
The first 12 people to respond to GSPR@girlscoutsrv.org will receive a five-pack of tickets to the performance. The performance is best suited for middle to high school girls. Please view this clip before responding.
