The Metropolitan Council sewer project that led to the closing of Camp Lockeslea is fully underway. To date, the contractor has removed more than 5,000 cubic yards of dirt, which translates to approximately 500 dump truck loads.
In addition, they have constructed a temporary causeway into the Mississippi that in conjunction with a construction barge will allow them to lay the new forecemain sewer lines underneath the river.
The first picture is the temporary causeway into the Mississippi, and the second picture is of the existing pipes, where they will be constructing a new vault and valve system.
For scale, each one of the pipes visible in the picture is 42 inches in diameter
