Must Love Horses

Posted by

Two girls with a horseIt doesn’t matter how much horse experience you have—we have a horse camp for you. Sign up for a program this spring or summer!

Horse Camp for Troops

Come to camp with your troop for a weekend to learn all about horses. Take lessons on grooming, equipment, riding skills and more. Join in other fun camp activities, too, like archery, swimming and making s’mores.

4-Day Hug a Horse (Non-Riding)

If you don’t have horse or riding experience, this program would be great for you! Spend time petting, grooming and learning about riding these awesome creatures.

6-Day Riding Connections

Learn at your own pace with this program. On the first day, you’ll take a short riding assessment and will then be matched with a riding level. Explore barn safety, horse care, tack and equipment, grooming and riding. You’ll receive a minimum of three hours of horse time each day.

13-Day Riding Connections

If you just can’t get enough horses, sign up for this program! You’ll spend 13 days learning about and taking care of horses. During your stay at Camp Northwoods, you’ll get at least one half-to full-day trail ride.

Space is limited. Learn more and sign up today!

It appears there are no 13 day horse camps near me. (Zimmerman). Will the schedule change?

    Thank you,
    Caitlyn

(My mom let me send this message).

Hi Caitlyn- That’s a very good question. Thanks for asking your mom before you posted it. 13-Day Riding Connections is only available at our Camp Northwoods location, but there is a free bus that stops at three Twin Cities locations and takes girls to the camp. So, if your mom or another adult cannot take you, you can still get there. Also, 6-Day Riding Connections is at Camp Elk River, which is in Zimmerman. If you can’t make it up to Camp Northwoods, that would be a good alternative. We hope to see you at camp this summer!

  6. Anne says:

For the 4-day hug a horse programs, there are not times listed. They all say 12:00 a.m. What time is the actual class each day?

  7. Girl Scouts River Valleys says:

Hi Anne- If you click through to “online registration” you’ll find the precise times.

  8. Lucinda says:

More information on the 4-day and 6-day riding camps. Need to know age level, dates, and transportation and if there are still any openings. Thanks for your help.

  9. Girl Scouts River Valleys says:

Hi Lucinda- To find details about each camp, please click the camp you are interested in from this list. The levels and dates are displayed under each camp. Free transportation to Camp Northwoods from three Twin Cities locations is available. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
