On June 12, Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys honored this year’s Gold and Silver Award recipients at a ceremony in Minneapolis. Joined by their family and friends, 47 of this year’s 136 Girl Scout Gold Award recipients and 150 of the 457 Girl Scout Silver Award recipients attended the ceremony at Ted Mann Concert Hall on the University of Minnesota campus. Natalie Duthoy, a 2010 Girl Scout Gold Award recipient who recently completed her freshman year at Loyola University in Chicago, served as emcee for the event. Melissa Lopez Franzen, employee relations consultant at Target Corporation and member of River Valleys’ Board of Directors, gave the keynote address.
It was inspiring to see the commitment, leadership, and service demonstrated by this year’s award recipients. The hard work and dedication of these talented young women touched hundreds of people in and around their communities and we are proud to bestow upon them the highest awards a Girl Scout can earn.
