We are proud to announce the third year of Cookie Care & Share as a part of the 2011 Cookie Program Activity. Participating in Care & Share means your purchase does double duty—first, by benefiting local Girl Scouts, and second, by giving a treat to a neighbor in need!
What is Cookie Care & Share?
Cookie Care & Share is an opportunity for customers to purchase packages of cookies that will be donated to 501(c)(3) organizations.
- Care organizations are chosen by Girl Scouts at the troop level. The organization is researched and the entire troop agrees to send “care” packages. Examples of such “care” organizations are area food shelves, shelters, or local in-home meal delivery services for seniors, among others.
- Share organizations have a broader reach and coincide with the areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin served by River Valleys. River Valleys delivers cookies designated in the “share” option to organizations like Emergency Food Shelf Network, Second Harvest Heartland, Meals on Wheels, Operation Minnesota Nice, and The Armed Forces Service Center.
In addition to taking Cookie Care & Share donations during the door-to-door part of the cookie program, Girl Scouts will take special Cookie Care & Share orders at Cookie Booths, opening Feb. 18. Special booths at participating Rainbow Foods locations will have a dedicated donation to Metro Meals on Wheels. Last year’s effort netted 10,000 packages to Meals on Wheels, which represents 40 local Meals on Wheels programs throughout the region. Help the girls reach their goal of delivering 10,000 packages of cookies again this year!
Girl Scouts who participate in Cookie Care & Share receive a special patch to commemorate their contribution. Plus, girls who sell 25 packages for Cookie Care & Share receive a $10 Cookie Credit!
