Safety Tip: Getting Girls Involved in Safety Planning

Posted by

Getting girls involved when planning safety for an activity helps them to establish lifelong habits of safety consciousness. Here are some ideas for different age groups:

  • Grades K-3: Have the girls brainstorm a list of things they should do or remember to stay safe for any given activity.
  • Grades 4-8: Give the girls a copy of the activity checkpoint and have them pull out the important safety considerations. Have them determine how to work these into the activity rules.
  • Grades 9-12: Have the girls review the Safety-Wise section of the website to determine which safety checkpoints to consider as they begin planning. Work the safety considerations into the planning of the activity.
