Coat Drive

Third grade Forest Lake Girl Scout Troop 52804 organized a coat drive for their entire school, Scandia Elementary, to benefit the Tubman Family Alliance, a family violence prevention and intervention resource agency. Since the girls aren’t old enough to work on their Girl Scout Bronze Award, they are working toward a Try-It and fun patch.

The girls made three announcements on SENN (Scandia Elementary News Network), a broadcast held daily at school to promote their drive. They also sent home fliers with every student, and some of the girls went door-to-door with their parents to collect the items.

They made three fleece blankets, collected 78 coats, four cell phones, and a number of hats, mittens, scarves, boots, and snow pants.
